In partnership with scientists at the University of Dundee and Heriot Watt University, McCormack Innovation created FlushAway wipes that dissolve in water and do not block sewage networks nor harm the marine environment.
Conventional wet wipes are made of synthetic and plastic fibers and take almost 100 years to biodegrade. Wet wipes flushed into toilets cause 93% of sewer blockages in the United Kingdom.
Mccormack Innovation have developed a flushable wipe that dissolves in a few seconds. The wipe has high tensile strength and is suitable for medical and general use.
The company aims to target medical, personal care and cleaning products sectors.
The team has developed a wet wipe that is effective against viruses including the corona virus. Dr Michail Kalloudis, Director of Impact Solutions laboratory, Grangemouth, Scotland has confirmed that using the appropriate chemicals at the correct volumes makes these wipes effective against viruses including the corona virus.
They can be safely flushed away after use which cuts down the risk of cross contamination.
Our FlushAway wet wipes are certified Fine to Flush by Water UK and they have OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certification.
